Current Puppy Plans
Takikawa litters are planned thoughtfully and puppies are often spoken for before they are ready to go home. This page is the best place to find current litter plans, upcoming possibilities, and application information.
Before applying, we encourage you to read about our Puppy Program so you understand how our puppies are raised, socialized, and matched with families.

Reign: Morningstar Purple Reign
Planned for Autumn 2026
We are currently planning a repeat breeding between Journey and Reign for a possible autumn 2026 litter, with red and sesame puppies possible. This pairing is especially meaningful to our program because their first litter produced puppies with the thoughtful, people-connected temperaments we value deeply.
As always, timing depends on nature, health, and what is best for the dogs. We will update this page as plans become more certain.

Previous Journey & Reign Litter
Journey and Reign’s first litter was born February 23, 2026. This litter produced Aurora and Rivi, both of whom remain part of our guardian program. We were especially pleased with the puppies’ social confidence, thoughtful temperaments, and early ability to engage with people and new experiences.

How the Process Works
Takikawa puppies are not placed on a simple first-come, first-served basis. Because we breed selectively and match puppies thoughtfully, interested families begin by learning about our program and completing an application.
Approved families may be added to our interested families list and kept in mind as future litters are planned. When puppies are born, we share updates as they grow, but final placement decisions are not made until the puppies are old enough for us to better understand their temperaments, structure, and individual needs.
Our goal is to match each puppy with the home where they are most likely to thrive—not just during puppyhood, but for a lifetime.
Investment
Takikawa pet puppies are $3,500 with limited AKC registration. A $500 deposit is due only after you have been approved and matched with a specific litter. The remaining balance is due after puppy matches are made.
The purchase price includes early training and socialization through our Puppy Program, age-appropriate veterinary care, vaccinations and deworming, a microchip, AKC registration, 30 days of AKC pet insurance, and continued support as your puppy transitions home.
Show or breeding prospects are considered individually. If a puppy is evaluated as show quality and placed with full AKC registration, pricing and placement terms may differ.
Bringing Your Puppy Home
Takikawa puppies are ready to go home after they turn 8 weeks old. Before leaving, each puppy receives a veterinary exam, age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, a microchip, AKC registration, and go-home support for the transition into family life.
Puppies are introduced to car crates and, when needed, airline carry bags before travel. Local pickup is preferred whenever possible, but we can discuss travel support when needed, including meeting at the Grand Rapids airport or providing flight nanny service by arrangement.
For owners who would like additional support before bringing their puppy home, extended Puppy Preschool may be available at $500 per week, depending on scheduling and availability. Extended training can provide extra time for crate routines, leash foundations, socialization, confidence-building, and transition support before go-home day.
Owners receive guidance for the first days and weeks at home so they can continue building on the foundation their puppy has already started.

Staying Connected
The best way to follow current updates is through Takikawa Shiba Inu on Facebook and Instagram, where we share puppy development, training, socialization, and program updates.
Because our litters are limited and puppy matches are made thoughtfully, ongoing communication matters. Families who remain interested are encouraged to stay in touch, ask questions, and let us know if their timing, preferences, or household needs change.
When a litter is being raised, approved interested families may receive access to additional updates, photos, and development notes as the puppies grow.
